Specialization Areas and Lines of Research    
 

Students obtain a Master’s and or Doctorate in Plant Biology within two specialization areas: 1) Plant Physiology and Ecology; 2) Morphology, Systematic and Biodiversity. These areas are subdivided into 9 lines of research, according to the list below.

 

Specialization Area: Plant Physiology and Ecology

This area includes 5 lines of research:

1. Reproductive Plant Biology: Researchers: Clemens Schlindwein, Denise Maria Trombert de Oliveira, and Queila de Souza Garcia;

2. Ecophysiology and Phytochemistry: Researchers: Alessandra Giani, Cleber Cunha Figueredo, Fernando Augusto de Oliveira e Silveira, José Pires de Lemos Filho, Luzia Valentina Modolo, Marcel Giovanni Costa França, Maria Rita Scotti Muzzi, and Queila de Souza Garcia;

3. Structure and Dynamics of Phototrophic Communities: Researchers: Alessandra Giani, Alexandre Salino, Ary Teixeira de Oliveira Filho, Cleber Cunha Figueredo, Fernando Augusto de Oliveira e Silveira, and José Pires de Lemos Filho;

4. Microorganism-Plant Interactions and Restoration of Degraded Areas: Researcher: Maria Rita Scotti Muzzi;

5. Limnology: Researchers: Alessandra Giani and Cleber Cunha Figueredo.

 

Specialization Area: Morphology, Systematics and Biodiversity

This includes 4 areas of research:

1. Structural Botany: Researchers: Denise Maria Trombert de Oliveira, Élder Antônio Sousa e Paiva, and Rosy Mary dos Santos Isaias;

2. Anatomy and Histochemistry of Galls: Researcher: Rosy Mary dos Santos Isaias and José Pires de Lemos Filho;

3. Floristics and Biogeography: Researchers: Alessandra Giani, Alexandre Salino, Ary Teixeira de Oliveira Filho, João Aguiar Nogueira Batista, João Renato Stehmann, and José Pires de Lemos Filho;

4. Plant Systematics: Researchers: Alexandre Salino, João Aguiar Nogueira Batista, João Renato Stehmann, and Leandro Cézanne de Souza Assis; .
